8 January~ Marlana's second buck.

She has been hunting this buck all season. It finally slipped up, and she capitalized. Beautiful 8 point.

Marlana shot This 6 pt yesterday. Not her biggest, but a nice start to the season.
I shot the bobcat. First one I've seen in the wild. It was stalking turkeys.

Fall Fishing 11/11/2014. Veterans Day.

Missed a white Marlin near the nipple, but managed a nice wahoo close to the edge. Beautiful flat calm seas and mild weather.

9/13 BlueMarlin, swordfish and wahoo

Headed out last night around 1830 or so, and eased down to the swordfish grounds. Got there around 2230, and began to deploy the baits. Hooked this sword a few minutes after setting the shallow rod. (Moon hadn't risen yet). This fish was by far the strongest swordfish Marlana has fought. It took her a solid 2 hours to land the fatty. We took a few pics, and she went to bed after telling me I better not expect her to fight another one.

So I played with the puffer fish and flyers until around 2 am, then settled into the bean bag for a little relaxation.

As the sun rose, we motored around the spur hoping for bite or two, but were quickly disappointed. We decided to go work some other areas a few miles south, and were happy to see a blue marlin crash the spread. She made quick work of that fish, with a healthy release after a 20" fight. We ended up losing another big blue just south of the nipple when she spit the hooks during a jump. We did manage a nice hoo a little over 50#, but that was about it for the day.

We dodged a few thunderstorms, but all in all a beautiful day on the water. 

9/8/2014~ "Blue Marlana" sword trip

Fished east of the spur, and had a few bites. Got this one after the full moon set around 0430.

7/16~port eads trip~blue marlin blues.

Headed west to check out the newly opened port eads marina at the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Had a great time on the water. Fought a marlin that pushed the limits of our gear.  Had her close, but ended up pulling the hooks.

Beautiful time alone with Marlana. I'm ready to do it again.

Fished the Fourth of July in green water. Caught this feisty blue at the elbow, then eased down to the steps. We caught a swordfish, which we released.  Caught a nice wahoo the next am, then headed north. Great day on the  water.

Blue Marlin 6/22

Great day fishing. Couple small dolphin and wahoo, and a few shots at marlin.  This one put on quite a show!  Marlana got it to the boat in 25 minutes. Good job!

Fish was caught north east of the double nipple. Hard tails and Bonita everywhere.

Headed out to find some fish. Scattered grass from spur to squiggles to canyon. Did manage a small tuna and a couple weehoos and chicken dolphin.

2014- first bluewaterfishing trip

Headed to the spur today. Still a little cold (74 degrees), but managed a couple fish. Great day on the water with beautiful seas and blue water.  Can't wait to get back out there.

First trip 2014

Left the dock at 1300.  Made a quick trip with my CEO, who happens to be an excellent fisherman!  We caught this cobia quickly, which made for an excellent day on the water.

Last day of hunting season 2/10/14. Marlana tags out!

Marlana had an exciting hunt on the final day of the season. She saw several deer, and pulled off a beautiful shot on this nice 8 pt. The deer was in full rut, with black stinky tarsals.  It had its eye on a doe, when Marlana intervened.

She skillfully skinned the deer (her first) at the new skinning shed.  I have to admit, I enjoy watching her do the work, as I drink a beer!

Can't wait for next year's hunting, but ready for the Bluewater for now!!

1/14/2014 Final Alabama buck for Dave

This buck was chasing a doe. He was shot on the run, and managed to run off a good way.  We were fortunate to find him. Thanks Barry Cole for helping drag this beast from the woods. Third Alabama buck.

Marlana's 8 pt January 8th 2014

Headed to the new camp, and hunted Marlana's private plot.   Saw a couple big does early.  Around 1700, this big 8 pt came out.  Despite me urging Marlana to take a rushed shot, she took her time and made a perfect shot.  The deer ran off the plot, but we found it 20 feet in the woods. What a fine deer. First one at the new camp!  I'm so glad we sat together.  Had the big boy on game cam.

Marlana's 26 December 12 pt

Marlana and I headed to the woods yesterday. I heard her shoot early, around 1645. Knowing she only shoots the big boys, I was excited to see what she got. Turned out to be a stud!
